An Evening with Susan Conrad: Exploring the Great Bear Sea
June 3rd 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Come enjoy an evening with friend and legendary expedition kayaker, Susan Conrad, for a compelling multimedia presentation chronicling her 2022 solo journey from the San Juan Islands to Sitka, Alaska.
This in-person event—part of Ocean Week Victoria—offers a rare glimpse into the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest, one of Canada’s most stunning and ecologically significant coastlines.
Hosted by Pacific Wild, the evening will begin with a short talk by Sydney Dixon, Marine Specialist, who will outline the progress of British Columbia’s Marine Protected Areas (MPA) network and the critical role these zones play in preserving ocean biodiversity.
Susan, recently named a Fellow of The Explorers Club, brings passion and purpose to her paddling adventures. Her goal: to spark a deeper connection between people and place through storytelling and conservation.
“You only conserve what you love, and you’ll only love what you understand.” — Susan Conrad
This is a free, all-ages event held in an accessible venue. Whether you’re a paddler, conservationist, or curious member of the community, come be inspired by the wild coast and the voices working to protect it.
